Changing the Layout and Design of Masters

There are several things that you can change in the Slide Master.  Some of these have been spoken about in other sections of this tutorial such as customizing the background, using Design templates, and changing the appearance of bullets. So, this section will be a cursory review of some of these things.

To change master text and title styles, follow the given steps:

Things like the the date, footer, and number areas can all be changed in the same way. To add a date, footer and page number, go to View and then click on Header and Footer. Select the options you want based upon the graphic below.

One can also change the size and location of the text placeholders. Resizing can be down by using the resizing handles and moving can be accomplished by clicking and dragging the text placeholder.

Remember that the slide master will change all slides within the presentation. So, make sure that the change is something you want to do.

To change the background or design template, go to Format and choose either Background or Apply Design. If you want individual slides to have a different background or design, the you would need to go to those particular slides (in Slide View) and edit them that way.

To add a reoccurring logo or image, just insert the logo or image onto the Slide Master or Title Master (go to Insert and then Picture). You can resize and move the image around to any location on the slide. Now, that logo or image will appear on all the slides that follow the Master.
