Once a document has been created, you need to save the document for future editing.
To save a new document, click on File and then on Save As. A Save As window will appear with several options. To give the document a title, click in the File name: dialog box and start typing. You may also need to choose a file format depending upon what you will do with the document. Go to the Save as type: dialog box and click on a file format to save the document in (e.g., Rich Text Format, WordPerfect, HTML, MS-DOS Text).
To save a previously-saved document, click on File and then on Save. A Save window will not appear as in the Save As option. Instead, Word will automatically save the document under its current file name and file type.
Another way to save a previously saved document is by clicking on the Save button located on the Toolbar next to the Open Folder button.
