Selecting
Text

Text must be highlighted before any formatting can be done. You can pretty much
highlight anything from a single letter to a graphic file. Most of the time,
highlighting can be performed by holding and dragging the mouse over the desired
text. However, there are several other ways to highlight information.
- Standard. Place cursor at the beginning of the
information. Hold the mouse button down and drag the mouse to the
end of the information. Then release the button.
- Single Word. Point at the word you want and
double-click. The word will become highlighted in black.
- Single Line. Click next to the line in the left
margin. Hold the mouse button down and move the mouse either up or
down to highlight additional lines.
- Paragraph. Double-click next to the paragraph in the
left margin. To highlight several paragraphs, double-click in the
left margin, and on the second click, hold the mouse button down.
Move mouse up or down to highlight additional paragraphs.
- Document. Hold down the CTRL key and click anywhere in
the left margin.
After you highlight something, you must cut it or copy it
immediately. If you do anything else in between, all your highlighted
text reverts to normal. Also, be careful when you highlight a piece
of text. If you touch any other key before cutting or copying, the
highlighted portion will be replaced by what you pressed. In this
case, hold down the ALT key and press BACKSPACE to retrieve the
replaced text.
