WORD PROCESSING
Toolbars

There are several important toolbars in Word. Toolbars give users easy access to certain features such as formatting, drawing, and saving files without going to the Menu Bar. Common toolbars are the Menu Bar, Standard Toolbar, and Format Toolbar.

Word also has other toolbars that appear when certain features or options are activated (e.g., Header and Footer, Picture, Tables and Borders). These pop-up toolbars can be exited by clicking on the Close button (indicated by the X).

Changing the layout of toolbars on the screen is simple. You can easily enable and disable certain toolbars to accommodate your word-processing needs. If you find yourself using a particular feature often such as drawing shapes, activating that toolbar will save you time in the end.

To enable or disable certain toolbars from appearing, click on View and then on Toolbars. Click on the toolbar option you want activated. Check marks next to the toolbar options indicate that they are enabled and will appear each time you use Word. To disable active toolbars, click on the option until the check mark disappears.

The following graphic shows that the Standard, Formatting, and Drawing Toolbars are enabled and showing on the window.
